Hi, I’m Rhi

I’m an illustrator and tattoo artist from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
You may know me by my former pseudonym, Maen Illustrates.

I first began illustrating with intent in 2016, however, I have been drawing and creating art for as long as I can remember. Currently, I am working on my first children’s book as both the illustrator and writer, which will feature the characters from my 2020 to 2023 Inktober projects. I look forward to sharing more about this soon!

Tattooing has been part of my art practice since 2014, starting off with self-taught handpoke tattoos. After a lot of learning & practice, I began working in a private studio in 2022. As of 2024, I have started a tattoo machine apprenticeship with my friend and mentor Jinjoo.

I am bloodborne pathogen certified by St John Ambulance and am currently accepting new tattoo requests for both handpoke and machine-style designs in Vancouver.

My art style is influenced by nature, literature, folklore, Nordic design, and animation.

Outside of art, I enjoy hanging out with my cat Ocha, going for walks in the forest, listening to music, and nature photography.
